Quad Eight CA-127

$2,200.00

The BAE CA-127 is made from vintage Quad Eight Electronics modular cards that came from consoles from the early 70’s to the late 70’s. These cards by themselves were designed for enough gain to accommodate mic or line preampfification, depending on the type of input transformer used. They can come in either Jensen input transformer, or the original QE which has been reconfigured for correct microphone input impedance and gain.

The BAE CA-127 uses a discrete operational amplifier which evolved into the 990, designed by Deane Jensen in the late 70’s. It has a clear and punchy sound with excellent noise and frequency response, however, not as hard and dynamic sounding as expected from a op-amp based preamp. The internal power supply runs at bi-polar 20VDC, either plenty of headroom. There are buttons for -20dB pad for loud sources, and a phase reverse. Also included is an all Class A, high impedance instrument input for a clear and wide sound in DI applications. These vintage cards have been in storage for a long time and now they are out to make music again. Limited stock on hand.
